A classic, full-bodied coratina, with great balance of bitter and pepper, loads of green herbacious notes, super-clean mouthfeel.  And a whopping great polyphenol (antioxidant) content, well over 1000 mg/kg.  (Oils with these polyphenols are sometimes harsh, even inedible, but this one remains smooth and heartwarming.)  I’ve known the producer, Pasquale La Notte, retired army general and full-time lover of the earth, for years now.  Together with the American branch of his family, Peter Antonucci and Luca Forte, he has recently started importing his oil into the US, as “Olio23.”
